Amazon Updates

Amazon is introducing new Account Health Rating (AHR) procedures on September 14-15, 2022. Amazon’s increased assistance with monitoring metrics and giving detailed accounts of policy infractions and account health levels will ideally help sellers better ensure that their listings remain active on Amazon.

Sellers that utilize the Amazon marketplace often express concern about the health of their listings, and the way they are informed about their account status. Many sellers can attest to the fact that some of their listings have been suspended for ambiguous reasons, which can be harmful to listings, as it causes loss of visibility for potential buyers and a decline in sales. There are several reasons why a listing may become inactive or suppressed, such as incorrect product information, poor customer reviews, or a lack of stock.

However, the most common reason is that the listing does not comply with Amazon’s guidelines. For example, a listing may be suppressed if it contains prohibited content, such as offensive language or misleading claims. If a listing is found to be in violation of Amazon’s guidelines, it will be removed from the site until the seller corrects the issue. In some cases, seller accounts may be suspended if they repeatedly violate Amazon’s rules.

A low AHR can lead to account suspension, so it is essential to keep an eye on this rating. There are a few things that can affect your AHR, including order defect rate, late shipment rate, and customer return rate. Amazon also looks at buyers’ satisfaction ratings, product reviews, and seller feedback to determine account health. Sellers with healthy accounts will be rewarded with lower fees, better placement in search results, and other benefits. Having a high percentage of listings that are Fulfilled by Amazon (FBA) can also help to improve your AHR.

Amazon has updated its account health procedures to help sellers better understand their policies and keep up to date with the health of their listings. It is offering a “holistic metric” that will address potential policy violations on a more individualistic basis to help sellers understand which violations are grounds for suspension of listings. It will also measure the level of compliance to give sellers the ability to address the most pressing issues first. Their team of specialists is always available to help sellers better understand the specific issues with their accounts and better adhere to policy regulations. Whether or not this new system will make an overwhelming difference in how sellers understand their account health and are able to maintain an optimal account health rating remains to be seen, as the updates given are vague and do not seem to have changed much from the inception of the AHR in September of 2020. We do hope that it helps illuminate the issue of suspended listings and help sellers better analyze their accounts to keep them in optimal health.
